Shahi Tukde

BISMILLAH HIR RAHMAN NIR RAHEEM

And now finally, my favourite ‘Shahi Tukde’. I simply adore this sweet. It’s very very easy to prepare and tastes heavenly if eaten the next day. After creating my blog I prepared this dish to celebrate it. As you all know how tedious task it was to name my blog.

Well, Insha Allah next I will post about my craze for crochet and my other hobbies.

RECIPE:

Ingredients:
Bread slices = 6
Milk = 3 cups
Condensed milk = 1/2 tin
Fresh or Thick cream = 1 small pkt.
Elaichi powder = 1 tsp
Saffron  = few strands
Almonds, pistachios = 2 tbsp chopped
Ghee to fry

Method:
1. Remove the bread crust. Then cut it into triangles or desired shapes.

2. Deep fry them in ghee till golden. Keep aside.

3. Boil milk and then reduce the flame. Add condensed milk, fresh cream or thick cream and saffron.

4. Heat the milk some more till it gets thickened.

5. Once the milk gets thickened, switch off the flame and add elaichi powder.

To Serve:
1. Arrange the fried bread pieces on the serving dish.

2. Pour the milk over the bread pieces and decorate it with dry fruits. Cool and serve.

Pav Bhaji

BISMILLAH HIR RAHMAN NIR RAHEEM

One thing which deserves a mention is my brother who never cooks. He thinks it’s only a girl’s job. But we were surprised when at night of 31st Dec. 2008 when we were having dinner, he declared he will prepare breakfast for us the next day. A breakfast of Pav-Bhaji on a New Year Day. WOW!!

However, I was confused as how will he make it as he never had prepared anything before. But people are very smart now-a-days, isn’t it? He brought ready-made cut vegetables from a nearby Reliance Fresh store, a Pav Bhaji masala packet (instructions to prepare were written behind it) and started out to his expeditions in kitchen the next morning.

Whatever he made turned out to be good. (ofcourse, it had to be, as everything I did and he just stood there with a spoon in hand and ready to mix the stuff at any given moment HUH..)

Ultimately, WE prepared Pav Bhaji and it too turned out to be great. But from then on I never forced my brother to make something for us again. As I know again he will just stand in the kitchen with a spoon in hand just to mix the things. ;-). Hope he is not reading this.

Reshmi Kofta Curry

BISMILLAH HIR RAHMAN NIR RAHEEM

That very afternoon I prepared Reshmi Kofta Curry. It’s a Sanjeev Kapoor Recipe, which I like a lot. I don’t know why, but that day I was really into a very cooking and experimenting mood. However, my Reshmi Kofta Curry turned out to be very very nice. It’s quiet easy to prepare and gets ready quickly.

RECIPE:

Ingredients:

For Kofta
Potatoes = 3 large sized
Cottage cheese (paneer) = 1/2 cup grated
Green chillies = 2-3
Raisins = 10-12
Cornstarch = 2 tbspn
Bread slices = 2
Salt to taste
Oil to fry

For Gravy
Onions = 2 medium sized
Green chillies =  2-3
Ginger garlic paste = 2 tsp
Yoghurt = 1/2 cup
Oil - 2 tbsp
Sugar = 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder = 1 1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder = 2 tsp
Salt to taste

Method:

For Koftas
1. Wash and boil potatoes. Cool, peel and mash well.

2. Remove stems, wash and finely chop green chillies. Wash raisins and pat them dry.

3. Add grated paneer to the mashed potatoes and mix. Dip bread slice in water and squeeze out the water. Add this to the grated paneer and potato mixture alongwith raisins, green chillies, cornstarch and salt to taste. Divide into ten to twelve portions and shape them.

4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry them on medium heat till golden.

For Gravy
1. Peel, wash and grate onions. Fry them in oil till golden and then grind it to a smooth paste.

2. Wash and finely chop green chillies.

3. Whisk yoghurt with a quarter cup of water.

4. Heat oil in a pan. Add onion paste and saute for two to three minutes. Add ginger garlic paste, green chillies and cook for three minutes.

5. Stir in yoghurt, sugar, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt to taste. Cover and cook for few minutes until the raw smell of masala disappears.

To Serve:
1. Wash, dry and finely chop coriander leaves.

2. Arrange koftas in a serving dish, pour gravy and serve hot, sprinkled with chopped coriander leaves.

My Mom's Birthday Cake

BISMILLAH HIR RAHMAN NIR RAHEEM

I wanted to post a few pics. They are and always will be memorable for me. Let’s start one by one. This cake is for my mom. It was her birthday and I thought of preparing the cake. This is just a simple basic cake, I only added pineapple pieces into it and a little of pineapple essence. My mom likes pineapple and me too :-). The pic is not so good and neither I am very good in icing the cake. This was my first attempt at icing any cake.

RECIPE:

Ingredients:
Eggs = 2
Butter = 100 gms
Powdered sugar = 100 gms
Flour = 100 gms
Baking powder = 1 tsp

Method:
1. Beat butter and sugar till creamy.

2. Beat Eggs seperately.

3. Add eggs, flour, baking powder to the butter sugar mixture and mix well.

4. Bake for 20 mins.

Note:
1. I have simply added small pineapple pieces into this.

A Blog Atlast

BISMILLAH-HIR-RAHMAN-NIR-RAHEEM

Huh! Finally I succeded in making a blog for myself. Aah! It was a very difficult task, not that I am not well versed with computers or blogging, but that the names which I had selected for my blog were already taken up. Can u believe I am trying since past one and half month. Whatever name I wanted, was not available. It was quiet irritating as some had just made a blog and left. They were just not using it. Sooooo bad. I was really fed up with this name keeping ceremony. Being a scorpion I am very adamant and just cannot keep any name for its sake. So was just trying and trying and trying.

At last I thought, everyone’s life starts through their mom. So y not start a blog through my mom itself. Now, got it why I kept my blog name “MY SONPARI”. Yup my mom is my sonpari. And to my luck this name was available also. So good na. Well I just felt like celebrating so I made Shahi Tukda for myself and everyone else in the family. To confess one thing, no one likes it the most as much as I myself like, that’s why I prepared it. Major part of it will go in my tummy. (no dieting here) LOL.

Well friends, a lil’ about me now. That will help you to know me better and surf my blog conveniently. I am an experi‘Mental’ person. I love to experiment, be it cooking, crocheting ( I am a die-hard crocheter), travelling or just anything. I am one sort of a crazy person just following my heart.

So now about my blog. Never thought in first place that I will ever blog. But wanted to connect with the people and the future generation that is about to come. This will help them to know me even when I am gone. My blog site is not just a recipe or crocheting patterns site, it’s a general site wherein I’ll be posting whatever little good things I come across in my life. With all the terrorism and negativities around, I just wanna share some goodness with others in a hope that others will pass it on to a few more others.

HOPE YOU ALL WILL ENJOY MY BLOG!!
